When The Fourth Kind came out last fall, it had the misfortune of coming out after Paranormal Activity. Not helping matters was a ringing endorsement by Larry King who said it was “Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind.” Sorry, Larry, there’s nothing close about these encounters. They are encounters only if are to believe what we see. Though, to me it was all too contrived for it to be fulfilling to the viewer.
Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that DVD and Blu-ray releases of The Fourth Kind will be released on March 16, 2010. Starring Milla Jovovich and Elias Koteas, the film will be presented in widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack for the DVD, and a English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack for the Blu-ray. Special features of the DVD will consist of deleted scenes. The Blu-ray will have two exclusive BD-Live only featurettes (“The Four Kinds,” “Marie D. Jones discusses The Fourth Kind“) as well as a few pocket BLU features, like Advanced Remote Control, Video Timeline, Mobile-To-Go, etc. Artwork below:
