Boxing promoters really must think boxing fans are stupid.
Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr will indeed meet in a bout, scheduled for April 17 in Las Vegas. The two were fighting tune-ups in December of last year in order to lead-up to a rematch of their 1993 bout, but Roy Jones Jr was knocked out by Danny Green. This seemingly killed all talks of the rematch that few people were interested in before the Jones Jr loss.
The fight contracts have been signed and the boxing audience has been insulted.
Both men celebrate birthdays this weekend. Hopkins turns 45 whereas Roy Jones Jr will turn 41. Want to know what their birthday present is to the fans? The fight will air on pay-per-view.
