PW Torch’s James Caldwell has recap and video of Jim Cornette promoting ROH’s April 3rd debut in Charlotte. Cornette pitched the show to old school fans in the area as being more like the product they remember:
“Pro wrestling that we all loved in the Carolinas was presented more seriously. It was about competition and who’s going to win the title. Now, it’s about soap operas and cartoon and midgets and it’s for kids, it’s corporate. Ring of Honor gives the old-time pro wrestling flavor with younger talent.”
He’s also contrasted ROH’s product with WWE and TNA’s “corporate” brand of wrestling, commenting on the recent reprisal of the Monday Night Wars in what Caldwell called a “toned down” version of his recent remarks on the subject.
