Carlos Tamara took the IBF light flyweight title from Brian Viloria with a shocking 12th round TKO Saturday night in Manilla, Philippines. Viloria was ahead on points at the time of the stoppage but the two-time champion had run out of gas late in the fight. The ref stopped the fight at 1:45 in the 12th round when Viloria was no longer adequately defending himself. Tamara improved to 21-4 (15 KOs) with the win while Viloria fell to 26-3 (15 KOs).
Brian Viloria was rushed to a hospital after the fight. Viloria collapsed in his dressing room and complained of head and neck pains. He is listed in stable condition.
