Before he ended the decade on a sour note (by in fact “nuking the fridge”), Spielberg crafted one of the best science-fiction films of the decade with his adaptation of the Philip K. Dick story. Minority Report stars Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell and Max Von Sydow and now Paramount is bringing it to the realm of high-definition from a true 4k master on April 20.
Besides 1080p video and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, it will include many supplements that were found on the original DVD release, plus new content special to Blu-ray: The Future According to Steven Spielberg (in HD), Inside The World of Precrime (in HD), Phillip K. Dick, Steven Spielberg and Minority Report (in HD), Minority Report: Future Realized (in HD), Minority Report: Props of the Future (in HD), and Highlights from Minority Report: From the Set, Previz Sequences.
Extras carried over from the DVD: From Story to Screen, Deconstructing Minority Report, The Stunts of Minority Report, ILM and Minority Report, Final Report, Production Concepts, Storyboard Sequences, Trailers (in HD)
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $29.99.
Thumbs up to Paramount for making what was a good two-disc DVD release into a better Blu-ray release. If only MGM could have given Robocop similar treatment, instead of just press it to Blu-ray with only a lackluster video transfer and one skimpy extra: a trailer.
