News

Inside Fights presents the latest pound-for-pound boxing ranks. We added a few new members to our voting panel so read on to see how the rankings have changed. Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr…who is your #1?

Inside Fights Pound-for-Pound Rankings

1. Manny Pacquiao
Last Month: 1
“Though he’s still number one, Pacquiao made a questionable move when he decided against subjecting himself to blood testing, which is all he needed to do to make the superfight of superfights with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Instead, he puts his pound-for-pound crown on the line against Joshua Clottey in March.” – Corey Willinger

2. Floyd Mayweather Jr
Last Month: 2
“Floyd missed out on a fight with #1 Manny Pacquiao. His next fight will come against Shane Mosley; not a bad consolation prize for fight fans.” – Trent Pusey

3. Bernard Hopkins
Last Month: 3
“Hopkins continues to waste what has to be the last stretch of his career. He still wants to fight Roy Jones Jr. in April. But if he can’t knock Roy out in a round, then he hasn’t done anything Danny Green didn’t, which won’t help his pound-for-pound status.” – CW

4. Paul Williams
Last Month: 4
“So…Paul Williams won’t be fighting Kelly Pavlik next? It is the only fight that makes sense in the middleweight division.” – TP

5. Juan Manuel Marquez
Last Month: 5
“Marquez’ name is coming up more and more as a possible opponent for comebacking Ricky Hatton or Amir Khan, who just signed with Golden Boy. Whomever Marquez ultimately chooses of the three, it should make for a fantastic show.” – CW

6. Shane Mosley
Last Month: 6
“Shane finally gets a fight. And it’s the one he’s wanted for two years. Once Floyd signs the contract, Shane will be preparing for a May 1 bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.” – TP

7. Chad Dawson
Last Month: 7
“Dawson will likely fight next against Jean Pascal in the summer. It’s a good fight for sure, but there are bigger fish to fry for Dawson, namely Hopkins and Lucian Bute.” – CW

8. Arthur Abraham
Last Month: 8
“Abraham leads the Super Six and looks to continue his momentum against Andre Dirrell in March.” – TP

9. Andre Ward
Last Month: 9
“Ward has a little over a month to prepare for Allan Green. Green’s lack of aggression may allow Ward to shine even more so than he did against Mikkel Kessler in November.” – CW

10. Wladimir Klitschko
Last Month: NR
“The staff has spoken, and Wladimir has unseated Nonito Donaire on our list. His next fight comes in the form of Fast Eddie Chambers in March.” – TP

Dropped Out: Nonito Donaire (10)
