Canada Finally Rising Up

Canadian teams constantly have a team lower in the standing in the NHL every year. This year they have the Oilers and the Leafs… no surprise. For a long time Canada has not been at the top level of the NHL, and this year it looks as though they might have a chance, with the Canucks and Senators almost certainly playoff bound, while the Flames and Habs are fighting for the last playoff spot in their conferences.

Star players exist on every playoff contending team, and if four teams make the playoffs Canada’s chances are good to win the championship. With the forthcoming winter Olympics in the near future in Vancouver, Canada could lead the world there and winning the Men’s hockey and then continue it with a Stanley Cup. Hopefully the Sens and Canucks can win the division and do not have to face any other Canadian teams prior to the finals.

Since 1993 there have been no championships in Canada and the drought is hopefully going to stop which would be a real boost for a country that has great hockey spirit and their ability to constantly fill up arenas easily also would help the NHL move a few struggling American teams to Canada. Everyone in Canada has their fingers crossed hoping for a cup this year.
