HBO and Warner Home Video announce when fans can sink their teeth into the DVD and Blu-ray releases of True Blood: The Complete Second Season.

A few weeks ago, TV Shows on DVD had a release date scoop as to when the second season of True Blood would arrive on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The site gave an approximate date of May 25th. With a formal announcement, HBO and distributor Warner Home Video have confirmed that date as well as reveal the cost and package art for both titles.

On Blu-ray the second season will be spread across five discs and all twelve episodes will be presented in 1080p Full HD Video and DTS-HD Master Audio. Special to Blu-ray will be the True Blood Enhanced Viewing mode on each episode, plus Exclusive New Blu-ray Features (this according to the information in the upper left corner of the packaging below), a complete list of special features is not fully known at this time. The DVD listing from Warner/HBO only makes mention of an audio commentary and featurette.

Update: Inside Pulse Movies has learned more about the supplemental material that will be included with the DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases. The Blu-ray Disc release will have triple the amount of extras found on the season one release. This includes Character Perspectives; a Flashback/Flash Forward feature that allows the viewer to relive pivotal moments and revealing the significance of certain scenes; Pro/Anti- Vampire Feeds which are news updates and information from the American Vampire League and the Light of Day organization that helps fans decide which camp they support; and Hints/FYI. This feature is comprised of trivia facts, show hints and clues.

Additionally, viewers will also be able to skip from bonus event to bonus event as they watch an episode.
