This will mark her first starring role in a comedy she wrote with writing partner Annie Mumolo. Wiig, who is a current performer on Saturday Night Live, appeared in Adventureland, Drew Barrymore’s Whip It and played Jason Bateman’s wife in Extract last year.

Story details are minimal but according to Variety, the comedy revolves around women competing to plan a friend’s wedding party. Universal is fast-tracking the project for a possible spring start.
