Lost Spoilers: What Do Numbers Have To Do With Jacob? Will Sawyer Stay Evil?

News

The rumors are flying after last night’s episode of Lost which pretty much revealed the entire plotline of the show.

It is being speculated that the island is a representation of the world and that the numbers assigned to the ‘Good’ characters have something to do with who will protect the world. In case you missed it, here’s a breakdown of who was assigned which of the numbers.

#4: John Locke
#8: Hugo “Hurley” Reyes
#15: James “Sawyer” Ford
#16: Sayid Jarrah
#23: Jack Shepard
#42: “Kwon”

The interesting thing to note here is why Sawyer was given a ‘Good’ number when he was clearly ‘recruited’ by the Man In Black as being evil. Is this just a smokescreen for him going back to the side of purity?

In an interview, Josh Halloway (Sawyer) said that his character walks the line between good and evil:

“Sawyer is both. He is good and evil. He walked most of his life towards evil, but now he more comfortably walks towards good. But he can always cross the line. It’s a very interesting place to play this season because of the loss of Juliet and the anger, frustration, sadness that’s here has brought him back to his original personality of being angry at the world and keeping everyone at a distance,” he said.

And why wasn’t Kate assigned a number? Also, many of the characters that weren’t on the list are dead including Mr. Eko, Shannon, Boone, Charlie and Michael.
