com has a special feature on fighter Mike Pierce with some interesting quotes;
on fighting Jon Fitch:
When Joe Silva threw Jon Fitch at me, I was like – right on!… A lot of people counted me out of that fight, but I think I surprised those people by the end.
on the role of wrestling in MMA:
“I think a couple of reasons, honestly… Like the Gracies said a long time ago—most fights end up on the ground one way or another. I think us wrestlers have the best way of getting people on the ground, and nobody trains takedowns and control we do. Even Jiu-Jitsu guys tend to admit that we have something really strange and weird that gives us the ability to control somebody on the ground.
on his upcoming fight w/”The Rosedale Reaper,” Rob Kimmons
I’ve seen a couple of his fights, and I am curious to see how he’ll be at 170…There are things in his game that he tends to favor, at least from what I’ve seen in his fights. I know he likes to stand up, and I know he likes his guillotine, and that he’s finished lots of fights that way. But I have pretty good submission defense. I figure if a guy like Jon Fitch can have my back for 90 percent of the first round and not finish me or submit me or even come close, I must be doing something right.
