NASHVILLE, TN – Not to be outdone by the WWE, which recently announced the birth of WWE Comics, rival promotion TNA issued a press release today announcing the launch of a new comic book series published in conjunction with DC Comics, entitled TNA BLACKEST NIGHT.

The book will be released in the US and Canada with the first issue hitting stands at the end of the month.

“Each week, more than 16 teens watch TNA programming on television in the U.S. This is an important demographic for the comic book industry and vital for a successful launch in the industry,” stated Yan O’Cain, Editor of TNA Blackest Night. “We were very fortunate to be able to secure the writing and drawing talents of DC’s Geoff Johns and Ivas Reis. They’ve got some truly amazing stories to tell."

Johns, who was named Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics on February 18, says it’s fortunate for all involved that the on-air TNA product – which airs weekly on Spike TV – lends itself as well as it does to the ‘Blackest Night’ template. "The series will follow TV storylines pretty closely."

TNA Blackest Night: The Dead Will Rise will feature – among others – Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Sting, Eric Bischoff, Sean ‘Val Venis’ Morley, The Nasty Boys, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman returning from the dead to prey on TNA’s faction of living, breathing wrestlers.
