Klitschko Crushes Chambers

IBF and WBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko took out Eddie Chambers with only seconds remaining in the twelfth round of their bout in Dusseldorf, Germany on Saturday.

Using the formula that has allowed him to dominate opponents ever since his last loss to Lamon Brewster in 2004, Klitschko boxed behind his jab and blasted Chambers with power shots, slowly breaking him down. Chambers managed to body slam Wladimir to the mat in the second round but threw less and less punches as the bout dragged on.

At the urging of his trainer, Emanuel Steward, Klitschko went into the final round looking to take Chambers out rather than coast to an easy decision as he did against Sultan Ibragimov in early 2008, a bout that left a sour taste in fans’ mouths.

Wladimir landed a big left hook on Chambers that caused him to collapse against the ropes before turning and face planting onto the canvas. Referee Geno Rodriguez stopped the fight rather than make the count, and it looked like Chambers wasn’t getting up anyway.
