Manny Pacquiao’s March 13 drubbing of Joshua Clottey at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas generated 700,000 pay-per-view buys. $35.3 million was generated in television revenue.

This is a real testament to Manny Pacquiao’s appeal, as Joshua Clottey did little to drum up any interest in this fight. This one was all Manny and HBO’s Mark Taffet agrees:

“We are extremely pleased with the pay-per-view performance of Pacquiao-Clottey. Fights like this traditionally do not exceed 400,000 buys. It is a testament to the popularity of Pacquiao and the vitality of the sport, and it gives us great encouragement as we look toward the May 1 Mayweather-Mosley pay-per-view fight.”

The numbers for Pacquiao-Clottey also mean that about 700,000 homes will not watch Joshua Clottey ever again.
