Current lightweight champion Edwin Valero was admitted to a psychiatric hospital in San Juan de Dios, Venezuela. Valero was arrested on assault charges after his wife showed up to a Venezuelan hospital with bruises, scratches, and a collapsed lung. His wife refused to press charges so the undefeated knockout artist was released. Valero did, however, confess to judge that he needed help dealing with his problems with alcohol and depression. Valero was transported to a psychiatric hospital where we will stay for as little as 30 days or for as long as six months, depending on his progress.
