2010 NFL Mock Draft: Post "Hate Week" Edition- 4/1/2010

Top Story

1. St. Louis Rams- Sam Bradford QB, Oklahoma
Rams desperately need a franchise quarterback. I think Clausen will be the better pro, but Bradford had a tremendous pro day and rumors are that Bradford will be the pick.

2. Detroit Lions- Russell Okung OT, Oklahoma State
The Lions traded for DT Corey Williams a few weeks ago, so that coupled with a huge need for an upgrade at left tackle to protect Matt Stafford’s blindside, the Lions need a franchise left tackle.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Ndamukong Suh DT, Nebraska
Best player in the draft drops to three. DTs just don’t have top positional value. Suh can be a dominant player as soon as he steps onto an NFL field.

4. Washington Redskins- Jimmy Clausen QB, Notre Dame
I like Jimmy better than Bradford because he was in a pro style offense at Notre Dame, fought through injuries while playing behind a terrible offensive line, and he’s a crunch time quarterback. There are many more reasons why after those top 3.

5. Kansas City Chiefs- Bryan Bulaga OT, Iowa
Scott Pioli will go with positional value over best available player like he did last year when picking Tyson Jackson over Aaron Curry.

6. Seattle Seahawks- Gerald McCoy DT, Oklahoma
Seattle gets really lucky and sees McCoy drop into their laps at 6. He’s easily one of the top 2 prospects in 2010.

7. Cleveland Browns- Eric Berry S, Tennessee
Browns need just about everything, and Berry is a terrific safety. He’s the top player available.

8. Oakland Raiders- Jason Pierre-Paul DE, USF
JPP will most likely be picked here by Al Davis because he’s an athletic freak. He’s very inexperienced and is a high risk, high upside pick. Greg Ellis was released.

9. Buffalo Bills- Dan Williams DT, Tennessee
Buffalo’s switching to the 3-4 defense, so they need a good nose tackle who can plug the middle of the line.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars- Derrick Morgan DE, Georgia Tech
Even though they signed Aaron Kampman, the Jaguars still need help at DE. They were ranked dead last in the league last year in sacks with 14. Morgan is equally good against the rush and pass.

11. Denver Broncos (from Chicago)- Dez Bryant WR, Oklahoma State
Who knows where Brandon Marshall will end up. But the Broncos should take the best available player here. He has some character issues, but will no doubt be worth the pick.

12. Miami Dolphins- Brandon Graham DE/OLB, Michigan
Jason Taylor is getting really old and Joey Porter is gone, and the Dolphins already need help in their front 7. Graham flew up the draft boards to start 2010.

13. San Francisco 49ers- Joe Haden CB, Florida
Joe Haden improved his 40 time after the combine at the Florida pro day. He could be drafted as high as the top 10, so the Niners get lucky and a huge upgrade for their pedestrian secondary here.

14. Seattle Seahawks (from Denver)- Trent Williams OT, Oklahoma
Seattle needs a replacement for Walter Jones their franchise left tackle. Williams was first team All-American this past season in which he was switching from right tackle to left.

15. New York Giants- Brian Price DT, UCLA
The Giants lost some defensive linemen in free agency, so they’ll need to restock.

16. Tennessee Titans- Everson Griffen DE, USC
Lost Kyle Vanden Bosch, so Tennessee needs to get a replacement. Their defense is getting older overall, so they need some youth.

17. San Francisco 49ers (from Carolina)- CJ Spiller RB, Clemson
San Francisco said that they’d be looking for a running back to complement Frank Gore in the draft. Here’s the lightning to Gore’s thunder.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers- Mike Iupati OG, Idaho
Iupati will help the extremely desperate offensive line for the Steelers. Their run game will improve alot if they choose Iupati.

19. Atlanta Falcons- Sean Weatherspoon LB, Missouri
Mike Peterson is getting older and Weatherspoon would be a great leader for the Falcons’ defense.

20. Houston Texans- Earl Thomas CB/S, Texas
Many have Ryan Mathews here, me included in earlier mocks. However, this time Thomas drops to them and they really need a corner.

21. Cincinnati Bengals- Jermaine Gresham TE, Oklahoma
Carson Palmer will love having a TE to pass to. Best player here fills a huge need for the Bengals.

22. New England Patriots- Rolando McClain LB, Alabama
Middle linebackers have been dropping in recent drafts, and I see that happening to McClain this year too.

23. Green Bay Packers- Anthony Davis OT, Rutgers
Left tackle is a huge need for Green Bay, so Davis here makes plenty of sense. It will only matter though if he’s the best available on Ted Thompson’s board on draft night.

24. Philadelphia Eagles- Jerry Hughes OLB, TCU
The Eagles have a lot of needs at linebacker. They get the top pass rushing linebacker in this year’s draft here.

25. Baltimore Ravens- Golden Tate WR, Notre Dame
Even though they traded for Anquan Boldin, the Ravens could still use more help at WR. They proved to themselves last season that if they can’t run, then they need WRs to throw to.

26. Arizona Cardinals- Charles Brown OT, USC
Whoever will be Arizona’s new quarterback next year, they’ll need plenty more protection than what Kurt Warner got.

27. Dallas Cowboys- Bruce Campbell OT, Maryland
Jerry Jones will like the type of product that Campbell is. He’s a little injury prone though, so don’t be surprised to see him in and out of lineup.

28. San Diego Chargers- Ryan Mathews RB, Fresno State
San Diego will continue to use a two back system after LT has departed for New York.

29. New York Jets- Sergio Kindle LB, Texas
Vernon Gholston is a terrible bust, so they need another rush linebacker. Kindle fits the bill.

30. Minnesota Vikings- Kyle Wilson CB, Boise State
Cedric Griffin can’t be trusted much more, and Kyle Wilson flew up draft boards these past months.

31. Indianapolis Colts- Maurkice Pouncey OG/C, Florida
Apparently the Colts offensive line sucks. News to me. I thought Manning had all day to throw in the Super Bowl.

32. New Orleans- Carlos Dunlap DE, Florida
Saints need a defensive end. Dunlap has some character issues and doesn’t try hard all the time, but he’s got some numbers to prove his worth.

ROUND 2
33. St. Louis Rams- Arrelious Benn WR, Illinois
Rams have just mediocre receivers. Benn will provide a good target for Bradford. He was hidden in the terrible offense at U of I with Juice Williams.

34. Detroit Lions- Jahvid Best RB, California
Adding a weapon like Best could really help out Stafford.

35. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Damian Williams WR, USC
Who is Josh Freeman going to throw to besides Kellen Winslow?

36. Kansas City Chiefs Taylor Mays S, USC
I see Mays falling. He’s a workout warrior and the Raiders could trade up to get him if he falls.

37. Washington Redskins- Roger Saffold OT, Indiana
Since Chris Samuels is done, the Redskins have a huge hole to fill at left tackle.

38. Cleveland Browns- Demariyous Thomas WR, Georgia Tech
Josh Cribbs can’t do it all by himself.

39. Oakland Raiders- Tim Tebow QB, Florida
I think Tebow’s 40 time and hype will get Al Davis’ blood pumping again.

40. San Diego Chargers (from Seattle)- Terrence Cody NT, Alabama
Chargers need to fill in need left by Jamal Williams leaving for Denver.

41. Buffalo Bills- Colt McCoy QB, Texas
Word is that Jim Kelly dined with Tebow. He’s not available, so they’ll have to go with McCoy.

42. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from Chicago)- Devin McCourty CB, Rutgers
There’s nobody across from Aqib Talib.

43. Miami Dolphins- Rob Gronkowski TE, Arizona
Dolphins need a pass catching tight end.

44. New England Patriots (from Jacksonville)- Dexter McCluster RB/WR, Mississippi
Laurence Maroney fumbled the ball after a dominating opening drive this past season against Jacksonville. He was promptly benched. New England needs a running back.

45. Denver Broncos- Eric Norwood LB, South Carolina
Denver looks thin at linebacker.

46. New York Giants- Sean Lee MLB, Penn State
Antonio Pierce is gone, so the G-Men will need a new MLB. Lee has some injury concerns, but he’s passed all medical checks.

47. New England Patriots (from Tennessee)- Brandon LaFell WR, LSU
Welker will be coming back from injury and Moss is losing speed.

48. Carolina Panthers- Jared Odrick DT, Penn State
Odrick drops in this mock, although I can’t really see it actually happening.

49. San Francisco 49ers- Jared Veldheer OT, Hillsdale
49ers will have to use one of their picks to shore up the right side of their offensive line.

50. Kansas City Chiefs (from Atlanta)- Kareem Jackson CB, Alabama
22nd against the pass, I think Brandon Carr could be upgraded over.

51. Houston Texans- Joe McKnight RB, USC
Houston proved time and time again last season that they are in dire need of a good running back.

52. Pittsburgh Steelers- Ricky Sapp OLB, Clemson
Steelers always looking to get the best linebackers.

53. New England Patriots- Aaron Hernandez TE, Florida
Another weapon to help New England’s offense. Hernandez will give Brady plenty of pass completions. He’s just not a good blocker.

54. Cincinnati Bengals- Navarro Bowman LB, Penn State
Some character issues here, which is why Bowman drops to the Bengals and they’ll take a chance on him. He’s got good skills.

55. Philadelphia Eagles- Daryl Washington LB, TCU
Eagles had a lot of need at the linebacker position.

56. Green Bay Packers- Dominique Franks CB, Oklahoma
Both Charles Woodson and Al Harris are getting older and slower.

57. Baltimore Ravens- Patrick Robinson CB, Florida State
More corner help is needed after an embarassing Monday night game filled with penalties.

58. Arizona Cardinals- Torell Troup NT, UCF
Arizona needs a nose tackle.

59. Dallas Cowboys- Chris Cook S/CB, Virginia
Cook could come in and be an upgrade over Ken Hamlin.

60. Seattle Seahawks (from San Diego)- Mardy Gilyard WR, Cincinnati
Charlie Whitehurst and/or Matt Hasselbeck need a better target.

61. New York Jets- Corey Wooton DE, Northwestern
Shaun Ellis is getting older.

62. Minnesota Vikings- Jevan Snead QB, Mississippi
Snead had a terrible year last season, but decided to come out anyways. This is a reach, but he’s the last of the QBs who has any potential to become a good starter in the NFL

63. Indianapolis Colts- Vladimir Ducasse OL, Massachusetts
More upgrades for the “Worst Offensive Line in Football.” Manning can’t take any blame…I mean he’s just the quarterback.

64. New Orleans Saints- Nate Allen S, USF
Darren Sharper needs to be replaced.
