90210 – Episode 2-16 Review

Shows

Things are finally starting to pick up steam in Beverly Hills and this weeks episode got me excited from the instant it started with some “Crimson & Clover”.  This week we got to meet the new faculty advisor for The Blaze news who kicked Naomi right out of the class.  Naomi tried to rebel the others against him and even begged to get back into class.  None of which was successful until she lied to her friends and told them he said he’d let her back on The Blaze if she slept with him.  Although I will gave Naomi credit for one of the funniest lines on the show ever when she decided she should be the next icon.

This was the craziest lie Naomi has told yet and I have a feeling it will be getting her in a heap of trouble but once you’ve cried wolf…there’s no going back. Crazy abounded with the bipolar Silver who was trying to win back Teddy’s affections after a bump in their relationship bubble.  Teddy was milking it for all it was worth but by the end of the episode the two were swapping spit in the courtyard and I was left with vomit in my mouth.  I love Silver but as a faithful fan I don’t trust Teddy, I like Teddy but I don’t want to see him anywhere near one of my fav girls.

Silver’s ex Dixon Wilson had to say goodbye to his mom this week as she’s finally leaving o head home and I couldn’t be happier.  Although the damage is done because Dixon’s birth mom already saw his mother, Debbie Wilson, out to eat with her yoga instructor where Debbie was the recipient of an unsuspected kiss.  When Dixon’s birth mom confronted Debbie she told her not to tell her husband because she would hate to see their problems trickle down to the children.   Someone needs to mind her own business and go back to where she came from.

Annie Wilson was still fighting off the stalker obsessions of Jasper but when he finally got it that she wanted to be left alone he told her that if he can’t have her then he doesn’t want to live.  Annie became my favorite character in last years season finale and watching her this season has been incredible and I can’t wait for next weeks episode to see where this goes next although I imagine Jasper is a rat who’s really out to infect my West Bev juniors.

Annie was also busy reconnecting with Liam who found out his stepdad was cheating on his mom.  Newsflash Annie: BACKOFF! You just got your friends back and Naomi’s middle name is jealous, she’s treading on thin ice getting to friendly with Naomi’s boyfriend.  Liam got a nice punch in on his stepdad but when his mom said she was going to try and work it out he decided it was time to move over to Naomi’s.  They even got in some pool side loving until Adrianna and Silver showed up to talk about Naomi’s sexual harassment situation and now that Liam knows, Naomi’s got to keep the lie up and take it further than before.

The absolute highlight of 90210 was Adrianna and Gia who finally got together this week.  Adrianna did a lot of questioning and I must say I really like how the show seemed to realistically handle a same sex relationship.  Gia likes girls and Adrianna like Gia but it took a while for Adrianna to understand and be okay with it.  She came to terms with the idea that sexuality is a spectrum and that it’s not black and white.  This is one of the most progressive storylines this show has dealt with or any teen drama on the CW has dealt with especially since the heydays of the WB.   Hopefully we’ll see more next week about how this relationship affects their exes and their close friends.

I think 90210 is on the right path and has definitely brought itself up to par from last year but I think I still want the show to narrow it’s focus a little more.  They just try to tackle so many characters and sometimes they miss a beat, like last week’s episode.  All in all this week left me wanting more and excited for next week’s episode. See you on 90Tues10!
