Jack Swagger opens the show with a promo, but is confronted by John Morrison who mocks him. They have a match, with Swagger wins with his Doctor Bomb. The match is said to be quite good.
This alone makes me curious to tune in to SD. Morrison might not work for me as a face, but Swagger is such a great heel I’m sure this is top notch.
CM Punk says he will convert Darren Young to Straight Edge.
That’s nice, but shouldn’t this be on NXT? Could they telegraph Rey Mysterio’s involvement any more heavily?
Shad Gaspard gets a promo, but JTG comes out, only to get destroyed.
I wish I had faith in Shad as more than just the next Mike Knox.
Drew McIntyre defeats Fat Hardy.
I don’t get the net’s hate of Drew. He’s over-pushed certainly, but as an IC level wrestler, he has enough personality and attitude to get over, and I’ve always been a fan of his ring work. The only real problem I see with him is that he should really be a step below Dolph Ziggler.
CM Punk comes out with his standard promo. He promises Young that shaving his head and accepting Straight Edge will help him win NXT. Young agrees at first before backing out, so he gets a beatdown. Rey Mysterio saves.
A predictable segment, but I’m sure Punk’s mic work saved it.
The Hart Dynasty defeat Baretta and Croft.
Sure, why not?
Dolph Ziggler puts the sleeper on Josh Matthews and puts him to sleep.
Apparently they really want to get the sleeper over for Ziggler. That’s probably a good sign since underneath guys so rarely get submission finishers.
Chris Jericho and Edge go to a double countout. Edge beats up Jericho and spears Jack Swagger, standing tall at the close of the show.
Yawn, another Triple Threat. If only one of these three were a real face.
