JAY LENO GIVES GARAGE MAHAL EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO HIS HOME FOR DIY NETWORK'S BIGGEST GARAGE RENOVATION

New Season Hosted by Pro-Athlete Bill Goldberg Premieres with One-Hour Special On Friday, April 9 at 9 p.m. ET

Like any average homeowner, Jay Leno’s messy garage is filled with broken down furniture, piles of clothes and old memorabilia. The Tonight Show host and his wife Mavis turn to DIY Network host Bill Goldberg and his Garage Mahal team to transform his unruly six-car, three room space into an incredible masterpiece. Garage Mahal‘s biggest renovation yet gives the Lenos unbelievable “his” and “hers” garages complete with technology out of a James Bond film and is documented in the one-hour second season premiere on Friday, April 9 at 9 p.m. ET.

Merging modern technology with a classic Tudor style, Leno’s is turned into the ultimate showcase garage. So he doesn’t have to back out, he gets a 22-foot in-floor turntable carved out of concrete, custom mahogany doors operated by high-tech fingerprint access and a universal remote, and an industrial style bathroom with a plasma cut sink. If that’s not enough, underneath the main garage, a subterranean storage unit is transformed into a modern presidential library for his beloved car magazines and books. His wife Mavis receives a major remodel including a refurbished floor, new and updated lighting, and extra-large cabinets to display Leno’s memorabilia.

Beginning Friday, April 16 at 9:30 p.m. ET, 12 more half-hour episodes of DIY Network’s Garage Mahal, hit the air every Friday with unbelievable garage renovations including: A Las Vegas-style casino card room; a BMX garage featuring cabinets and ramps that double as storage; a game room garage with a pool table that converts into a ping pong table; and a home gym garage, complete with vaulted ceilings, a rock wall, and innovative space saving equipment.

With a passion for auto racing and his own extensive collection of restored cars, Goldberg is a natural fit to host the second season of DIY Network’s Garage Mahal. Along with DIY Network’s team of experts, Goldberg offers ideas and do-it-yourself instruction to help homeowners everywhere construct their own Garage Mahal. Basically Garage Mahal is like another entertaining DIY series, Man Caves. If you don’t know what a “man cave” is, it’s simply just a dedicated area of a house, such as a basement, workshop, or garage, where a man can be alone or socialize with his friends. In Man Caves, experts turn a boring room or other part of a man’s home into an unbelievable space that is usually has theme of their favorite hobby or pastime. Garage Mahal pretty much could be called a spin-off of Man Caves, since the focus of that show is strictly on turning a garage into something special.

I had the chance to check out a few advance clips of the season two premiere episode that featured Jay Leno. As many know, Jay Leno loves cars, so this three-room, six-car garage remolding is nice. But I wasn’t able to get a look at all of the bells and whistles, so I can’t tell for sure if it will blow your mind entirely. It will no doubt certainly be the envy of all car enthusiasts. Of course, if you had Jay Leno money you wouldn’t need Bill Goldberg in your house destroying things. But it’s still nice to get a look inside Leno’s house and garage.

Now I also did get a chance to see the entire third episode of the season season. This episode was much more impressive overall. In this episode, Goldberg and his crew turned a junky garage into a real Las Vegas casino poker room. They went all the way to Vegas to get real colorful casino carpet and a poker table to put in this garage. I’m sure that anyone who plays poker regularly, and the popularity of poker has certainly increased in recent years so that’s quite a lot of people, would love to have this casino garage in their house.

The only downside of the series could be that we are talking about transforming a garage into something else. Most people still want to park their cars in their garages. Well from the episodes I saw the crew try to at least leave some room to store stuff and even park cars if there is room. As far as the new host of the series, Bill Goldberg, he does a good job from what I saw. Goldberg being a former football player and professional wrestler means he is “man’s man”. He feels natural as a host, and this seems to be a perfect fit for him.

I and DIY understand that not everyone has extra room inside their home to have a “man cave”. So they have done their best to turn a space that the majority of homes have and turn it into something amazing. If you have the DIY network, this is a series that you need to check out if you loved Man Caves or dream to have an amazing room to call your own at your house.
