Tonight is the “double score showdown”. The couples will be performing the Tango or the Rumba. They have to include 3 specific moves and these are the Viennese Crosses, Outside Swivel, and Contra Check, and they will get a score for technique and a score for performance. Len reviews the stars potential for the tango tonight with Bruno and Carrie Ann. Kate is too one dimensional. Erin has to watch her hold on Max. Jake needs to show more performance even though he has good energy, and Evan needs to be more precise with his footwork. Jonathan Roberts and Anna Demedova dance the Tango for us.
Erin and Max dance their Tango first. Len tells them after last week’s shows to work on their footwork. Her back/rib is bothering her but she must soldier on. They start the dance to “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” with Erin behind Len molesting him in some way, but it’s kind of hard to see because it’s dark. I think Erin is a very versatile woman, she can hang with the guys but she is still feminine. Len is the first to comment and he says he enjoyed the beginning but she needs to get onto her heels, too many steps are on the toe. Bruno points out that she went wrong and couldn’t quite recover her technique. Carrie Ann thought her performance suffered because she was so focused on technique but she still thinks she’s a beautiful dancer. Technical score is 18 (6,6,6), Performance score is 21 (,7,7,7) for a total of 39 .
Evan and Ana are next. They need to focus on his feet. He has two broken toes. They dance the Tango to “Wait A Minute”. Bruno loves it and stands up to give his review which includes the comment that Evan danced “strong, powerful, with a hint of cat-like arrogance”. Carrie Ann and Len admired his efforts as well. Technical score is 26 (9,8,9), Performance is 21 (9,8,9) for a total of 52 .
The first Rumba is up next. The judges reflect on the dancers. Bruno says Pamela needs to polish her technique. Chad’s posture and presentation needs work, he needs to perform outward. Derek and Nicole need to make it look less like a music video and more like ballroom. Niecy needs to have it all come together, top and bottom at the same time. Aiden is too wooden and needs to relax. Kym Johnson and Dmitry show us how the Rumba is done. The three moves to be included are Opening Out, Sliding Doors, and Spiral Into Rope Spin.
Niecy and Louis are up for the Rumba. Louis wants to use the dance as spiritual therapy and dedicate it to Niecy because her brother died a while back. She doesn’t have much time to rehearse because she’s working on her show “Clean House’ 10-12 hours a day. They dance the Rumba to “Taking Chances”. Len thought there was beautiful musicality but thought it was boring. Bruno said she looked like she was in a trance and her Sliding Doors looked like she was wiping something off her clothes. Carrie Ann thought the emotional connection was there but it didn’t read well to the audience. Their Technical score is 18 (6,6,6) and their Performance score is 18 (6,6,6) for a total of 36. Maybe next week they can lighten up a bit and focus more on the dancing and less personal emotional stuff.
Aiden and Edyta are up next. Aiden seems a little shy with certain moves. Edyta encourages him to grab her with more passion, he does and she’s like “yess” to encourage the dance move but it’s funny because it’s a “yess” that suggests a double meaning. They go on a cruise for people who want to meet soap stars. Edyta rips open his shirt (which I think is really tacky) and they dance and the crowd loves it. They dance in the ballroom to “Live Like We’re Dying”. Edyta’s dress looks like she walked into a giant fan with a normal dress on and what is on her body is what remained after the ordeal. Carrie Ann felt he was more comfortable but wrongly generated the movements from his shoulders. Len doesn’t like it and it was worse than last week. Bruno says Aiden needs to flow better, it wasn’t continuous. Their Technical score is 15 (5-5-5), and their Performance score is 18 (6-6-6) for a total of 33.
Nicole and Derek are up next with their Rumba. They are shown in rehearsal and Derek is goofing around while they are trying to do the “dance of love”. They dance to “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.” They look awesome as usual. Bruno felt she was hesitant and there were a few stumbles, and he wants more sex. Carrie Ann felt Nicole looked nervous tonight. Len thought the balance was correct but felt her arms overextended a bit in their sliding doors. Their Technical score is 25 (9,8,8), and their Performance score is 25 (8,8,9) for a total of 50.
Jake and Chelsie are up next with the Tango. Jake shows up to rehearsal with a shirt that says “Trust in your Pro”. He feels the pressure from being in the bottom two from last week. They dance to “A Girl Like You Before”. Len felt he was enthusiastic but that the performance fell apart because of mistakes. Bruno thought it was a messy tango. Carrie Ann like the performance but doesn’t think he and Chelsie are connected emotionally and physically. Their Technical score is 19 (6,7,6), and their Performance score is 19 (7,6,6) for a total of 38.
Kate and Tony are up next with the Tango. In rehearsal she complains that everyday is something huge because of the custody battle. I am so sick of this woman. Tony has aged ten years from working with her. He tells her if she fails this week, then her ex “wins”. She runs down how the other contestants are better than her. She says she is going to give it her best. They dance to “Let Me Entertain You”. Kate makes me miss Cloris’s dancing. Bruno says that there was a mini breakthrough but the technique is still very bad. Carrie Ann says she’s very proud of her determination. Len gives Tony some props for working with a dancer who is not that good and getting her to improve. Tony deserved some credit so that was cool. Their Technical score is 14 (4,5,5) and their Performance score is 18 (6,6,6) for a total of 32.
Chad and Cheryl are up next with the Rumba. Chad looks forward to showing women how good his hips are. They dance to “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” and this is my favorite dance of the night. I thought it was really passionate and they looked good. I enjoyed the choreography and the song and they seemed to have really enjoyed it too. Carrie Ann felt he turned on the heat and that this was his best dance ever. She says “dayum” about his hip action. Len said he improved his performance and posture. Bruno says his hips were alive and that he sustained the lines and “very few men do that.” Cheryl shows Brooke and the camera the ring Chad gave her and it is really nice and expensive looking. I can tell she’s really enjoying this season. Their Technical score is 21 (7,6,8), their Performance score is 23 (8,7,8) for a total of 44.
Last up is Pamela and Damian. Last week Len tells her he wants her to refine her dance and not be too raunchy. They dance to “I Can’t Make You Love Me”. Len says it was sophisticated and her spiral stood out among the other female contestants. Bruno said she is refined and sexy. Carrie Ann said there was magic happening. Their Technical score is a 23 (7,8,8) and their Performance score is a 24 (8,7,9) for a total of 47.
I wish Kate would go home.
