TNA Lockdown 2010 Live Results: AJ Styles vs. “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero

News

Hebner sends back Ric Flair before the match. Could TNA do a title change in a non-Main Event?

AJ Styles defeats The Pope via Styles Clash. (*** 1/2).

We open with chain wrestling, as AJ keeps control. Pope, however, is ready to counter AJ’s speed and regular offense. The only advantage AJ has had so far is in slowing it down and counter-wrestling. That, of course, ends up working great when AJ realizes he should attack the knee. This match is getting incredible heat.

Pope gets a great counter into the cage, then a DDT and suddenly he’s beating the hell out of AJ picking up the pace, but forgetting his knees. This offense goes on until AJ gets a thumb to the eye and, with Pope blinded, takes to the air with a forearm. This gives AJ enough of an advantage to use the Pelle and other high impact moves, including the 450 for 2. AJ then misses a cage dive and Pope has advantage.

Pope gets a series of near falls that the crowd is buying. AJ grabs a pen and slams it in Pope’s eyes. Spinning clothesline and Styles Clash finish the match. Probably the Pope’s best match ever.
