Mikkel Kessler defeated Carl Froch in the second stage of Showtime’s Super Six World Boxing Classic by unanimous decision. Kessler gained two points in the tournament and also became the WBC Super Middleweight champion. The scores of the bout were 117-111, 116-112, and 115-113. Kessler improved to 43-2 (32 KOs) with the win while Froch suffered his first loss and fell to 26-1 (20 KOs).
Both men suffered cuts in the fight. Froch was cut over his nose in the 8th while Kessler was opened up over his left eye in the 10th. The final two rounds saw each man lay it all on the line to produce a thrilling conclusion for the fans in Denmark.
