ROH News: Chicago Street Fight Fallout, Colt Cabana, Kenny King, Necro Butcher, Austin Aries, Delirious

News

The following news items were posted on the April 27th edition of the ROH Newswire:

This past weekend’s brutal Street Fight between Colt Cabana & El Generico vs. Kevin Steen & Steve Corino (the outcome of which was posted by our own Pulse Glazer here) has led to quite the fallout. Kevin Steen has challenged Colt Cabana to a match of Cabana’s choosing on May 8th in New York. Click here for video of Steen’s challenge.

Also, according to the Newswire, ROH has fined all four men “for the blatant use of chairshots to the head.” The Newswire frequently crosses the line between kayfabe and reality, so it’s unclear whether this is legit. Given the heightened awareness regarding concussions in sports, however, I doubt ROH would be making light of the situation (now, if this was TNA, I would have no doubt that they were making light of the situation).

Speaking of Colt Cabana, he is scheduled for a Pick 6 series match against Kenny King on March 7th in Manassas, VA.

The next night in NYC, Kenny King will team up against Rhett Titus to take on the Briscoes, who will face the Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) in singles matches the night before.

ROH has reported that Necro Butcher spent last Friday night in the hospital with severe back trauma (and a possible upper back fracture) after being powerbombed on the upright backs of two steel chairs by Erick Stevens. I don’t know at this point whether this injury is real or kayface, but Necro’s match against Bob Sapp on May 9th in Japan is said to be up in the air.

In yet another bit storyline development from the Newswire, ROH has reported that Austin Aries has applied to ROH officials for a Manager’s License, and that this request is currently under review.

Delirious concluded his NOAH tour of Japan this past Sunday with a loss to GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and is expected back for the shows in Manassas and NYC.
