Cheech & Chong's Hey Watch This – Blu-ray Review

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are the godfathers of pot humor. Any one who’s ever enjoyed stoner humor has been a Cheech & Chong fan. Now the two are back together for their first new film in 25 years.

In 2009, the two went on the road with their Light Up America comedy tour and director Christian Charles (Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedian) captured the magic during their San Antonio show.

Mixing classic bits from their films and comedy records with some new material plus an opening monologue by Tommy’s wife, Shelby, this is a fairly funny film. As well as doing their stand up, Cheech & Chong also play characters watching the performance and commenting on it.

There are some really strong moments during this film, but sadly, some of it falls flat. There are definitely some good laughs throughout, but they are by no means constant. If you’re a huge Cheech & Chong fan you’ll probably love this, but unless you’ve seen and love all their films, this probably won’t be too impressed by this film.

Hey Watch This is presented in 1:85.1 and 5.1 Dolby Digital surround. This movie looks fine. I mean it’s a concert film. The Blu-Ray is fine but it doesn’t make you feel like you were there or anything.

Deleted & Extended Scenes: (33 min.) Chong’s extended bit about pot is pretty funny. Shelby’s… not so much.

This had some good laughs but not great ones. If you love these guys you might love this. Mild recommendation at best.
