NFL: DEA Investigating Allegations Against New Orleans Saints Senior Staff Members

Several members of the New Orleans Saints coaching staff have been accused of stealing controlled substances from a team medical cabinet and covering up the theft. The accusation has drawn the attention of the federal government who has sent the Drug Enforcement Agency down to perform an investigation.

Former Saints Director of Security, Geoffrey Santinni, brought a Civil suit against the club last week. In the suit he claims he was asked to keep quiet over the theft even though he had seen evidence that showed illegal activities. In the suit he describes video evidence that shows Linebacker Coach Joe Vitt taking keys from the training room and using the keys to open a medical cabinet that contained Vicodin.

Though never mentioned by name in the lawsuit, Head Coach Sean Payton came out and said he had never abused or stolen Vicodin. The Saints spokesman has said the lawsuit is false and is an attempt by Santinni to shake down the club.
