NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers WR Limas Sweed Suffers Potentially Serious Achilles Injury

On the last day of a three day Minicamp, Steelers WR Limas Sweed injured his Achillies Tendon and the team is worried it could be a serious injury.

Sweed was injured in a routine pass drill and left the field on a cart and later left the facility on crutches. There are 3 grades of tears to tendons, if the Sweed injury is a Grade I or II, he’ll just need some time to heal and possibly minor surgery, if the injury is a Grade III Sweed will most likely miss all of the upcoming season.

Sweed has 7 career catches after being a second round pick out of Texas in 2008, although he was expected to take on a larger role this season with the departure of star WR Santonio Holmes.
