Jason Brilz To Take Forrest Griffin’s Place At UFC 114

News

Less than 24 hours after Forrest Griffin was forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight at UFC 114 with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Jason Brilz has agreed to take the fight on short notice and face the Brazilian star. Although a verbal agreement has been reached, no contracts have been signed at this point.

Brilz (18-2-1) last fought in March beating Eric Schafter via unanimous decision. That win came after his first loss in the UFC when he dropped a split decision to Eliot Marshall at UFC 103 last September. Brilz is 3-1 since signing with the UFC late in 2008.

Nogueira is looking for back-to-back wins for the UFC. He knocked out Luiz Cane and won Knockout of the Night in his debut fight with the company in November at UFC 106. The win was Nogueira’s sixth in a row since being knocked out by Sokoudjou in 2007.

UFC 114 takes place May 29 in Las Vegas and features the long-awaited grudge match between two former UFC Light-heavyweight champions, Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
