NBA: Chicago Bulls Finally Fire Head Coach Vinny Del Negro

News

It’s been rumored for months that he hasn’t gotten along with the front office, and that some of the players had started to tune him out, so the Bulls made it official today and Fired Head Coach Vinny Del Negro.

Del Negro has one year and 2-million-dollars left on his 3 year guarnteed contract he signed when taking the job. Del Negro was an assistant coach in Phoenix under Mike D’Antoni before taking the job in Chicago where he led the Bulls to the playoffs in both of his year there, going 41-41 this year before losing to LeBron and the Cavs in the first round.

The Bulls have a long list of potential replacements for Del Negro, most notable among the list is Phil Jackson. Jackson, of course, coached the Bulls during the Michael Jordan glory days and his contract with the Lakers is up at the end of this year. Reports have come out saying that Jackson will coach “somewhere” next season and won’t retire.
