GSP & Koscheck/Daley Winner To Coach TUF 12

News

Season 12 of Spike TV’s hit series, The Ultimate Fighter will feature UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre coaching against his next opponent inside the Octagon, the winner of Saturday night’s fight between Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley.

UFC President Dana White made the announcement on Friday in Montreal where this weekend’s UFC 113 is taking place.

Surprisingly, the welterweight champion has never coached on the series despite being one of the most popular and best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. St. Pierre will have some familiar faces helping him coach the upcoming season. His head coach from Montreal, Firas Zahabi, and strength and conditioning coach Jonathan Chaimburg will join him as coaches when filming begins in Las Vegas at the end of the month.

The second coach for the show will be determined once a winner emerges Saturday night in the fight between Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley. Not only will the winner of that fight become a coach, they will also receive the next title shot against St. Pierre.

Were Koscheck to win, it wouldn’t be his first experience on the show. He was a cast member of the inaugural season of the show, and may best be remembered for the pranks he pulled on fellow fighter, Chris Leben.

Koscheck is already a known commodity to American fight fans while his opponent Paul Daley has less of a reputation in this country. Daley would benefit greatly from the exposure he would receive on the show, and his appearance could boost appeal of the sport in his home country, England.
