Diamond kills free White Lantern Ring promotion

News

Last week, Diamond Comic Distributors confirmed that:

Due to an error at Diamond Comic Distributors, the WHITE LANTERN PROMOTIONAL RINGS (JAN108011) were mistakenly allocated to some retailers served by the Memphis warehouse.

“We realize this is far more than just an inconvenience to retailers,” says Bob Wayne, DC’s VP – Sales. “While there is no way for us to replace the rings at this time, Diamond and DC are arranging for some free goods to help make up the difference.”

Sadly it seems that all retailers served by Diamond’s Montreal warehouse did not get any White Lantern Rings leaving a big hole in the freebie rings collection of many fans in Canada and parts of the United States if not a larger geographical imprint.  According to first hand discussions with retailers, DC and Diamond have yet to announce when new White Lantern Rings will be shipped. The first of the “fix” offers were for more Green Lantern Rings to replace the White Lantern Rings. Retailers and fans remain unhappy.

If you are a retailer that has been impacted by this, feel free to write me and share your experiences over the last week and as the situation evolves.
