Haynesworth wants to be traded rather than go through the transition to a 3-4 defense and has skipped all voluntary workouts so far this offseason to let his demand be known. New Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan has said that Haynesworth will not be traded and now his teammates are asking him to come in to workouts.
Phillip Daniels has been in contact with Haynesworth telling him that everyone else is in camp and that Haynesworth needs to be there to set an example for the young players on the team. Offensive Tackle Mike Williams reiterated that notion when he called Haynesworth a team leader, and said he needs to acknowledge his responsibility to the team and come in to offseason workouts.
Haynesworth signed a mega-deal last offseason $100 million, $41 million in guarnteed money, $32 million of which he’s already been paid.
