10 Thoughts on WWE NXT – May 11, 2010: Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

I’m back to give my thoughts on NXT this week after missing last week. I’ll be out the next few weeks because of some summer obligations, but I might still submit some thoughts if the shows get uploaded online.

1. I love how they recapped the entire show in the beginning video package. I guess they recognized that lots of people tuned out after nothing interesting was happening except for a poor version of American Gladiators so they needed to let everyone know what they’ve missed.

2. Good call by Otunga to wear his headphones to the ring in the opening segment so he doesn’t have to listen to the NXT theme.

3. Well Tarver’s elimination was completely unsuspenseful. Did anyone not see that coming? It’s a shame too because we never got to see him knock anyone out. I did love Tarver’s meltdown and how he yelled at the fans on his way out. However, this show is too poor and too low on the WWE food chain to have security escort Tarver out so it could’ve had more effect.

4. What? “WWE Management” didn’t like Bryan’s comments so they throw him off the show with Tarver because of one promo segment? I could go off on a mini-rant, but I’m sure that other columnists on this site and other people on the net will do that for me (and that you have already read them). Let’s just say that if Bryan stays off the show they’ve lost any “niche” audience that they had. Also, with multiple eliminations scheduled it appears that the WWE has officially given up on this show. At this pace this thing will be over in a few weeks.

5. They were so desperate for a guest host that BUZZ ALDRIN is hosting Raw this Monday? Unbelieveable. That has train wreck written all over it…what’s everyone doing to do the entire show? Make jokes about how we didn’t go to the moon?

6. At least this show had Wade Barrett squash Heath Slater. Barrett is so far ahead of the rest of the rookies remaining that it would be the crime of the century if he doesn’t win this show.

7. So we finally get to hear the Wade Barrett theme…and it’s a cheap ripoff of Chris Jericho’s. Again, the WWE has completely abandoned this show.

8. Regal must not be very popular among the other pros since he accompanied Sheffield to the ring and the rest of them are “sequestered” for the pro poll.

9. Soo….”Daniel Bryan” is going to become Bryan Danielson and start beating up the rest of the roster? So this entire NXT adventure was so Danielson could find his inner self like a walk in the desert? Doesn’t that bury the entire NXT concept? Too many questions and not enough answers BUT if it leads to a renegade Danielson character then I’m all for it.

10. I’ll miss Skip Sheffield, the guy grew on me over the last few weeks. Now this show only has 1 person I can stand so that’s great.

I’m really puzzled at where they are going with this show. With another elimination next week we’ll suddenly be down to 4 people and how are they going to fill an entire show with that? Are we going to have several new obstacle course challenges? More chugging contests?
