Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Wants a Rematch With Frank Mir

News

Former PRIDE and UFC Heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira suffered the first knockout loss of his career at the hands of Frank Mir at UFC 92 in Dec. 2008. Both Nogueira and Mir lost their most recent fights, and a rematch wouldn’t be completely out of the question. Speaking with TATAME Magazine, the Brazilian legend made his intentions known.

“I’d love a rematch against Mir; it is a fight I would like to do again. It would be a good fight, he is a high-level athlete. I want it for sure,” Nogueira said.

Nogueira (32-6-1) has lost two of his last three fights due to a knockout. His victory between the two defeats came against Randy Couture, when Nogueira won a unanimous decision last August. The 33-year-old has fought anyone and everyone in MMA, and he is one of the most accomplished fighters in the history of the sport.

Mir (13-5) has also lost two of his last three fights. Mir’s losses came to Brock Lesnar at UFC 100 last July, and Shane Carwin at UFC 111 in March. Mir’s win came against Cheick Kongo in December, when he submitted the French fighter in only 72 seconds.
