The Real Housewives of New York City – Episode 3-4

Archive

Tonight’s episode is brought to you be the lovely force that is Pinot Grigio.

“Tell me, should I call you Countess? Mrs. De Lesseps or LuAnn? Or by your Native American name, Stick-up-her-bum?” Gosh, I love the conversations these women have. Since when have introductions been a problem for anyone?

These were the serious issues being discussed by LuAnn and Kelly at Fashion Week before Bethenny showed up and LuAnn freaked out. I don’t know why it’s a big deal. They’re in the same city, within the same social circles, and filming a show together. It’s to be expected that they’ll run into each other. LuAnn begins her usual passive aggressive commentary, and Bethenny wants none of it. They get into a heated exchange and LuAnn is called a snake. Yikes. Not a lovely thing to say, but I maintain that no one should ever get into it with Bethenny without bringing their A-game. Say what you want about her, but she can hold her own in a fight and everyone else will walk away with their tail between their legs, nursing their wounds and weeping.

Oh yeah, and Lisa Rinna is there. She looks just as perplexed at the fight as Kelly.

Kelly attends another show during Fashion Week, and runs into Ramona and her daughter, Avery. Avery is probably my favorite of the NYC kids, simply because she manages to act and dress saner than the woman who raised her. Kelly wants to know why she wasn’t at Ramona’s luncheon and she babbles a list of excuses. I’m surprised, Ramona is usually never afraid to speak her mind. Kelly ends up taking her to a Perez Hilton party (ewww) where they meet Jill, who is wearing, um, quite the dress? She decides to tell the Bethenny-LuAnn-snake story as if she were actually there. Truth be told, she probably tells it better than Kelly ever could, with her use of actual sentences and the like.

Jill is hosting a Saks 5th Avenue event for her friends, wearing another wacky outfit. They apparently served gallons of Pinot Grigio, because Ramona is on a roll. She owns this episode, it’s so fun to watch. She calls the Countess out on being nice to Alex and Simon only to their faces, stares off into space with her eyes bugging, laughs like a hyena, and sings “I love you, I love you!” at the dinner table. That woman knows how to have a good time. She comforts LuAnn about her divorce one minute and then bluntly asks Kelly if she’s getting her chest redone. Note to Kelly: You should get your breasts redone, they’re currently running in the opposite directions and are planning an appearance in Playboy.

Kelly is mad. Kelly is embarrassed. It was an inappropriate comment and Ramona must be stopped! Ramona repeatedly demands “Who cares? Who CARES?” at Kelly’s reaction. No one cares, Ramona. You’re all drunk at Saks with the woman whipping it out for Playboy. These woman need to adopt the levity that Ramona looks at every situation with, because she’s having more fun than they ever will. LOVE HER.

Random Thoughts

  • Kelly displays frightening levels of idiocy in her inability to get Bethenny’s jokes. It’s not especially difficult, B’s not a rocket scientist. She’s joking half the time anyway.
  • Ah, the sweet return of Gloria. My new goal is to work “Mother’s not happy” into everyday conversation.
  • Poor Alex looked so confused when she tries to work out her problems with Jill, LuAnn, and their comments about her kids. They were firmly in “deny, deny, deny” mode and there’s no way that conversation was happening.
