It seems like this has been a problem in the past as well.
In the second inning of Monday nights game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Ramirez was going back on a short fly ball to left, the ball dropped and while attempting to pick the ball up, Ramirez kicked the ball into the left field corner. Ramirez then lazily jogged towards the ball allowing 2 runs to score for the D-Backs.
After the inning Marlins manager Fredi Gonzales pulled Ramirez from the game. “We expect an effort from 25 guys on this team, when that doesn’t happen, we’ve got to do something,” Gonzalez said.
In the first inning Ramirez fouled a fastball from Edwin Jackson off his ankle, he hobbled around for a bit but stayed in the game, eventually grounding into a double play.
