Rey Mysterio received an offer from AAA to run a Rey Misterio Jr Cup and have him award the trophy to the winner of the tournament. He asked WWE for permission but was refused as they do not want him appearing on a AAA show. Mysterio had been inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame a few years back, when WWE gave him permission to attend but said that he could not be shown there on TV. Mysterio has been unhappy in WWE in recent times due to differing perceptions of his financial value to the company.
