Motion Poster Further Teases Ryan Reynolds' Thriller Buried

News, Projects

How many actors can carry a movie on his own? Tom Hanks did it with Cast Away and last year Sam Rockwell excelled as a one-man show in Moon. Now it is Ryan Reynolds’ turn in Buried, a buried-alive thriller from Lionsgate. Having watched the theatrical trailer, I can honestly admit that it is one of the most impressive trailers I’ve seen this year. It is bold in that it doesn’t use a “movie trailer” voice ala the late Don Fontaine to entice excitement, but rather builds to its final reveal. The trailer is mostly black space with sounds and a flicker of light. Now the studio has released a “motion poster” that further reveals Ryan Reynolds’ predicament. Check it out.

An American contractor working in Iraq awakes to find that he’s buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone, it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap. Buried is directed by Rodrigo Cortés and is written by first-timer Chris Sparling. The film opens nationwide on October 8, 2010.
