Every team will probably show interest in getting LeBron, but Cuban has made his interest public well before James becomes a free agent.
The Mavs don’t have the cap space to sign James to a max contract in free agency, so Cuban has already thought through ways of acquiring James.
“If he does like I’m guessing, hoping he will, which is say, ‘I’m not going to leave the Cavs high and dry,…'” said Cuban. “Then he’ll try to force a sign-and-trade, and that gives us a chance.”
Cuban also said he expects LeBron to stay in Cleveland, but that won’t stop Cuban and every other owner in the league from salivating over the possibility of landing the leagues marquee player.
