Vic Darchinyan defeated Eric Barcelona by unanimous decision in Australia earlier today. Darchinyan put Barcelona down twice in the 5th round and once in the 11th. Barcelona also lost points in the 6th and 12th for low blows. Scores were 120-103, 118-105, and 116-108. Darchinyan entered the fight with a broken hand that he claimed he hurt in sparring two weeks ago.
Darchinyan is already calling out big names for his next fight. According to Darchinyan’s promoter Gary Shaw, Darchinyan will gladly face either the winner of Israel Vazquez vs Rafael Marquez or the winner of Yohnny Perez vs Abner Mares. Both of those fights will be this Saturday on Showtime. Vazquez-Marquez may be a bit too heavy for Darchinyan but Perez-Mares could be feasible.
