Time may have run out on the series 24, but fans will get to enjoy Jack Bauer’s last day in high-definition on December 7, 2010. Last Friday while Kiefer Sutherland was on The Tonight Show a graphic showed that 20th Century Fox was going to release the final season on DVD and Blu-ray on December 7th. That pre-announcement announcement was met with a press release today.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced both Blu-ray and DVD release of the eighth and final season as well as 24: The Complete Series in a collectible DVD box set. No word on if a Blu-ray release is in the works for the complete series.
Full details are unknown at this point except that the complete series will include all eight action-packed cougar-filled seasons of 24 plus deleted scenes; behind-the-scenes footage; a comprehensive retrospective that looks back at the show’s unforgettable eight seasons; an alternate ending for the series finale and much more.
The suggested list price for the the final season on DVD is $59.98. (But Amazon.com is taking pre-orders for $38.99.)
As for the Blu-ray release, it has a list price of $69.99, but is currently priced at $48.99 at Amazon.com.
Specs have yet to be revealed for the Blu-ray, but the release will likely match Season 7 as a 6-disc set with 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, as well as audio commentaries, featurettes, and deleted scenes.
