Jesse Eisenberg Reteaming with Zombieland Director

Casting News, News

All right, pop quiz. A pizza-delivery man and a junior high teacher are forced to rob a bank. One of them is strapped to a bomb vest. What do you do?

We’ll find out next year in 30 Minutes or Less a comedy project written by Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan and produced by Ben Stiller’s production wing. Parks and Recreation‘s Aziz Ansari had already been cast as the junior high teacher, and Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer got the gig to direct. But who play the pizza guy? THR says it will be Jesse Eisenberg. Eisenberg, who last collaborated with Fleischer on Zombieland, is the latest addition to the action-comedy. The cast also includes Danny McBride as one of the men looking to score some cash; Michael Pena (Observe and Report) is as a tattooed assassin, and Nick Swardson (You Don’t Mess with the Zohan) is McBride’s best friend.

The Pulse: This project has a lot of potential. Writers Diliberti and Sullivan have penned another screenplay that I’m even more excited to see called L.A.P.I. (which coincidentally was one of the working titles for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) – it’s an action-comedy about a beaten-down private investigator with McBride as the P.I. 30 Minutes or Less could be an homage to movies like Speed and TV show 24 but with tons of comedic value. What do you guys think?
