John Cusack joins Psychological Thriller Jack

Casting News, News

A few weeks ago we told you that Brad Anderson was on board to direct a thriller called Jack. Now the Web site Bloody Disgusting is reporting that John Cusack, who has done everything from Better Off Dead to Con Air, has signed to star.

The storyline revolves around what happens when a serial killer suffers amnesia and falls in love with a doctor. As the killer’s memories begin to surface, he must decide whether to make a clean start or embrace the killer within.

Shooting is slated to start in August.

The Pulse: John Cusack is one of those actors who managed to survive the Brat Pack era and not be a forgotten screen presence. He’s had memorable stints as Lloyd Dobler in Say Anything, Martin Q. Blank in Grosse Pointe Blank, and more recently in 1408 where he took up a sizable chunk of screen time, mostly by himself. This collaboration with director Anderson could also be a memorable performance, though I’m sure comparisons will be made to Viggo Mortensen’s peformance in A History of Violence. Most of Brad Anderson’s movies seem like the casting was done at random with actors you’d never expect to see together in a movie (i.e., Christian Bale and Jennifer Jason Leigh in The Machinst or Woody Harrelson and Ben Kingsley in Transibberian). So it will be interesting to see who will play Cusack’s love interest. Still, the movie looks promising. Anybody else a fan of Brad Anderson?
