Paul Rudd to play Idiot Brother

Casting News, News, Projects

THR says Paul Rudd has signed on to star as the title character in My Idiot Brother, a comedy being directed Jesse Peretz. Anthony Bregman, Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub will produce. All three had a hand in getting movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Little Miss Sunshine made.

In the comedy, Rudd plays “an idealist dealing with his overbearing mother who crashes into the homes of his three ambitious sisters and, in succession, brings truth, happiness and a sunny disposition into their lives while also wreaking havoc.”

Production is slated to start this July in New York. The sisters are expected to be cast soon.

Jesse Peretz, who previously directed five episodes of Comedy Central’s Important Things with Demetri Martin, co-wrote the script with sis Evgenia Peretz and David Schisgall.

So Paul Rudd needs three sisters. Who would you cast?
