ROH News: Young Bucks/Generation Me, Roderick Strong, Wrestlers Signed for Illinois Weekend, and more

News

The following news items were posted on the June 2nd edition of the ROH Newswire:

In addition to making their one-weekend ROH return on July 23rd and 24th, as I reported yesterday, the Young Bucks (now known in TNA as Generation Me) will also be taking part in special meet-and-greets before both shows.

Roderick Strong has been added to the second annual Toronto Gauntlet, on June 19th at “Death Before Dishonor VIII”. Also confirmed for the Gauntlet are Steve Corino, Colt Cabana, and Eddie Edwards. Two names remain to be announced. The winner of the Gauntlet will receive an ROH World Title shot at a future date.

The following wrestlers have been signed for Collinsville (July 23rd) and Chicago Ridge (July 24th), in addition to the aforementioned Young Bucks: Tyler Black, The American Wolves, Jay Briscoe, Roderick Strong with the House of Truth and Truth Martini, Colt Cabana, Chris Hero, and Amazing Kong.

ROH officials are in the midst of completing licensure requirements for the State of Kentucky, and once these are finished, they will begin announcing talent confirmed for the “Bluegrass Brawl” on Thursday, July 22nd. General Admission tickets remain, and can be purchased here.

Davey Richards is currently in Japan for the Super Juniors. Richards is scheduled to wrestle Roderick Strong on June 18th (Buffalo, NY) and Tyler Black for the ROH World Title the next night (Toronto, ON, “Death Before Dishonor VIII”).

The Newswire teased the following in the way of storyline development:
– Amazing Kong has admonished Sara del Rey that “payback is coming.” Del Rey beat Kong at “Supercard of Honor V” by hitting Kong with Chris Hero’s loaded elbow pad.
– Jim Cornette had a “very heated” meeting with the Kings of Wrestling regarding their attack of Mark and Jay Briscoe’s father at the last ROH on HDNet tapings in Philadelphia.
– Kevin Steen was involved in an “incredibly brutal” parking lot brawl after the cameras stopped rolling at the same set of HDNet tapings. Footage of this brawl will be available on ROH’s website.
