NFL News: NFL Player, Trainers, and Doctors Meet To Talk About Concussions

News

The league is starting to be a lot more proactive in dealing with concussions.

The NFL meet with doctors from Johns Hopkins discussing brain injuries in football, and at the end of the day, one thing they agreed on was that they still have a lot to learn.

They discussed how to change the culture in the NFL of not self reporting minor concussions. They also talked about equipment that might help prevent concussions.

One topic that came up was placing transmitters in the player’s helmets to study how many hits to the head a player takes in an NFL season. A study at UNC showed an average on 950 per season. And that was with the shorter college season.
