Possible costumes leaked for Captain America and Thor

News, Rumors

Superhero fans have been abuzz the last few days over what appears to be leaked finalized concept imagery for the upcoming Captain America and Thor movies.

The pictures, which appear to be computer enhanced (if not computer generated) mock-ups of Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Captain America, first appeared at Collider and Ain’t It Cool News respectively.

The picture you see above is my hasty attempt at some very amateur Photoshopping — just because I, as a fan, was curious to see what three possible live-action Avengers might look like when placed in the same shot. For more images of the Avengers, follow the links to their respective sites.

The Pulse: The costumes certainly have a nice look to them. While the nitpicking uber-geek in me might wish to see more primary colors on Thor or for Captain America to have some wings on his mask (at least paint them on the side, guys), I can’t deny that, if these images are in fact authentic, the filmmakers did a nice job balancing the heroes’ comic book origins with modern film sensibilities.

I in particular like Captain America’s costume. While it doesn’t at first appear to be something that could have been created or would have been worn during World War II, it does have a nice look about it — harkening back to the Ultimate Captain America costume.

All in all, I have to say these images are just the right thing to keep me excited and buzzed about Marvel’s upcoming film slate — at least until next month’s Comic-Con. I’m sure nobody will be surprised when Marvel uses that forum to properly introduce the world to its next batch of heroes — and maybe even make some official announcements regarding the Avengers movie and whether or not Joss Whedon will be directing it.

Sound off: What do you think of the costumes? Which of the heroes are you more excited to see on the big screen? Do you think it gets hot fighting crime in all that leather?
