MacGruber, with WWE Stars, Drops Out of Top 10

News

MacGruber fell out of the top ten in its third week. The comedy, based on the Saturday Night Live sketch, lost 94% of its audience and only made an estimated $96,000. In the span of twenty-one days it went from opening on 2,551 screens to play on only 177 screens. The $10 million comedy has only grossed $8.5 million. Ouch.

On a related note, maybe it’s a bad omen for actors to host WWE Raw leading up to the release of their latest movie. When in Rome bombed after Don Johnson and Jon Heder hosted in January. MacGruber bombed, as did Ashton Kutcher’s Killers. Hot Tub Time Machine might be an exception, but it only made $57 million worldwide, having cost $36 million to make.

The trio of Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson and Sharlto Copley may reverse the curse when they host the three-hour Raw on June 7th as they promote The A-Team.
