WWE Booking Notes On Michael Cole & NXT Invasion Of Raw

News

There has been talk amongst the creative team in WWE of progressing the Michael Cole heel storyline from season one of NXT. During the NXT ‘invasion’ of Raw, Cole was the only person at ringside who escaped unscathed after he ran away. Jerry Lawler, Matt Striker, ring announcer Justin Roberts and timekeeper Mark Yeaton were not so fortunate.

The eight ‘rookies’ were heavily praised backstage after Raw ended for how well they handled the situation, despite most of them being relatively inexperienced. Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and Michael Hayes were all very enthusiastic about the way the angle went down. They were also very keen on the Daniel Bryan and Michael Cole conflict, plus the improvised mic work by William Regal and the other ‘pros’ during the season one finale of NXT. The company is on a ‘reality TV’ kick just now and these sorts of segments are proving popular with management.

An additional note to the NXT season one finale, which may or may not play into the current storyline, was that Chris Jericho went to all the eliminated rookies in the front row and told them that he expected big things from them – adding “especially you” when he spoke to Daniel Bryan.
