MLB News: Stephen Strasburg Dominates In First Start

This kid might have a future.

Strasburg stuck out 14 Pirates in his debut using his 100 mph fastball along with 80 mph breaking ball to make Pirate hitters look foolish throughout his 7 innings of work.

Strasburg got into some trouble in the 4th inning when he allowed a homerun to right off the bat of Delwyn Young.

Strasburg’s 14 Ks were the second most all-time in a major league debut behind only JR Richard and Karl Spooner’s 15. However, Strasburg issued no walks in his 7 innings, Richard and Spooner each had 3.

After the game, Strasburg was treated to a pie in the face from pitcher John Lannan. After he wiped that pie from his face, he was hit with two more for the rare triple pie.
