NCAA Re-Alignment Starts: Colorado Joins Pac-10

News

With all of the talk of NCAA re-alignment, nothing had actually happened…until now.

The Sporting News is reporting that the University of Colorado is set to announce this afternoon that they have officially accepted a bit to join the Pac-10 Conference.

The University of Nebraska is expected to announce this week that they will be joining the Big 10; the University of Missouri has also been tied to the Big 10.

With Colorado’s announcement, the domino’s should fall. Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State are expected to now move to the Pac-10 as well.

That leaves Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, and Baylor left out in the cold. Kansas is almost a lock to join another major conference due to their basketball program; K-State would have the next best chance of a major conference, since they’ve had success in football and basketball in the past.

The Big 10 is expected to add a couple more teams. Their pick is reported to be Notre Dame, who has been reluctant to join a conference in the past. Mizzou and Rutgers also have a good shot of joining.
